This workshop series is designed to strengthen the individual through the creative process and nutritional education. Each week’s topic includes an art directive and a wellness discussion. Participants will learn simple guidelines for making healthy food choices, gain a new level of awareness about why and when you eat, and develop practical strategies for making healthy happen in a busy life. No prior art experience is necessary. Art materials and healthy snacks are provided.
Topic 1: The Powerful Mind: Using Art to Refocus
Topic 1 draws attention to the individual with a hands-on creative activity and a wellness discussion on using food as fuel (i.e. energy).
Topic 2: Feeling with All My Senses
Topic 2 encourages the individual to move into the body through all five senses and discusses mindful/instinctual eating.
Topic 3: The Oxygen Mask: Practicing Self-Care
Topic 3 focuses on taking care of the individual first and how the ripple effect of good health can expand to others.
Topic 4: Why Am I So Special?
Topic 4 allows the individuals to connect with others in the group while sharing healthful practical tips for everyday living.
