Carolyn is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist who specializes in working with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, disordered eating, body-image and self-confidence issues, stress, and struggles with work/life balance. She also works with couples who are looking to enhance effective communication styles, as well as find shared meaning and values.
Carolyn's practice is informed by Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gottman Method (Level 2), Polyvagal Theory and other evidence-based approaches which help her clients develop a stronger connection to themselves and ultimately deeper feelings of connectedness to the world around them. She often utilizes art therapy as an adjunct to traditional talk therapy, which naturally facilitates a deeper inquiry into struggles and patterns of relating. In addition to being a certified health coach, she completed her certification in Yoga.Psyche.Soul - Yoga Psychology, a 300 hour Yoga Alliance Certification Program focusing on the healing power of yoga, meditation, breath work and shadow work. Recognizing that each person holds within them the innate ability to know what they need for healing, Carolyn guides her clients towards acceptance and empowers them to make the changes they need to live happier and healthier lives. In working from a holistic perspective, she encourages her clients towards all aspects of self-care; nutrition, exercise, personal connections, career fulfillment and satisfaction, and deeply meaningful relationships. Carolyn received her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University, Chicago and her Post-Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, Chicago. She is also a certified Health Coach from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She is currently seeing clients in person and Telehealth through a HIPAA-compliant portal. For professional counseling services, she is an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans, Blue Choice plans, UnitedHealthCare/UBH/Optum/UMR plans and Aetna PPO. Super bills for reimbursement can be provided for all other insurance plans upon request. Self-pay is also accepted.
